Pirates

Tonight was our ward's Trunk-or-Treat Halloween Party at the church. Ava and Dillon dressed up like pirates and they were so cute!

Getting Dillon to hold still long enough to take a picture is impossible, so we take what we can get!
Ava, on the other hand...

They walked around to the trunks of the cars and trick-or-treated. Dillon held out his hand with a grabbing motion at every car - he knew what he wanted! This is Ava & Dillon relaxing by our car when they were done.

Morning Buddies

Most mornings I wake up to the sound of laughing, talking or playing coming from Dillon's room. Before I even hear him, Ava goes in and climbs in Dillon's crib with him! I don't know if he is already awake, or if she wakes him up, but I wake up to these happy sounds almost every day! Most mornings, I will lay in my bed for a few minutes and listen to Ava read Dillon stories, listen to them imitate each other's silly sounds, or hear them try to out do each other with the loudest scream! I am so happy that they are friends and make each other happy (at least most of the time, until Dillon pulls Ava's hair!). What an awesome way to start my day!

Ava's First Field Trip

Last Friday, Ava went on her first field trip ever with her kindergarten class to Schnepf Farms, a local farm that has a pumpkin patch & fall festival each year. Ava was so excited to go! It was hot (about 90 degrees - will AZ ever cool down?) and dusty, but a really fun day!
Dillon & I met the buses at the farm, along with my friend Rachel (Ella's Mom) and her son Jack. (thanks for the ride & all the pics Rachel!)

Here are a few of the highlights...

Riding the bus was a huge deal for Ava!

At the farm with her friends Ella, Gwendylin & Justin

Petting goats at the petting zoo with Justin

Petting the donkey with Dillon
(Ava loved this donkey because he was so cute
and looked like the donkey from Shrek)

Ava went down this big tunnel slide
(A very brave thing for her, big slides are not usually her thing!)

These are her good friends Ella & Gwendylin (We carpool with them to school everyday)
They rode on the swings...
the airplanes...(Ava is pouting, she didn't get to ride the airplane with flames on it!)

and the train!

Dillon was such a good sport!
He had to stay in his stroller most of the time,
he was too little for all the rides!
Bringing a bag lunch was a very exciting prospect for Ava! We went shopping and indulged in Sunny D, Twinkies & Cheetos! In typical Ava fashion, she ate one or two bites of her food, most of her Cheetos, & that was it!!

The kids were able to pick a pumpkin from
the pumpkin patch. Ava picked the very
smallest one she could find
(and wouldn't even switch it for another when
I told her the reason it was so 'squishy & small'
was because it was nearly rotten!)
Dillon got a pumpkin too!
This is a typical Dillon face!
(for those of you who know him really well,
can't you just hear him saying 'Oh, Oh!' as he points?)

Here are the friends taking a break at the end of a long day!

And here I am with Ava & Dilly!

Until the next field trip....

Ava's Dance Recital & Peach Jam

Ava's Dance Recital
For the last couple of month's Ava has been taking dance lessons from a cute girl in our ward, Mykee. A lot of Ava's friends from school & church are in the same class. She had so much fun.

Last week was her dance recital. It was in Mykee's front yard and it was really cute. Tash, Sam & Maddie came to see Ava dance, and Sam videotaped it for us.

Peach Jam

The other day Natasha bought a big box of Utah Peaches and we got a little domestic and made some Peach Jam!

Jake, Sam, Maddie & Ava all helped us blanch & peel the peaches. There were so many of them!

We made the best Peach Crisp and our Jam was delicious! I was really proud of the results of our domestic adventure!

Our October so far....

Welcome to our blog! This is officially our first post! I have been reading so many great blogs lately, and I think they are such a good way to keep in touch. I hope that you will check in on us every so often through our blog and see what is going on with the Bullard Family! Please feel free to leave a comment to let us know you've been here.

A few highlights of our October so far have been: our trip to Utah, Ava's dance recital, making peach jam with Tasha's family, visiting Schnepf Farms and the pumpkin patch!

This post will just be our Utah trip:

Utah is my favorite place to be in the fall: the colors of the leaves, the incredible blue skies, and, most importantly, our families!

Ava, Dillon & I spent a few days at my Mom's house in Provo and had so much fun! Reuben, Maegan, Dylan, Zach & Chase came over on Sunday for dinner and we played the best game of Nerts! (a family card game that we have played for years that can get a little crazy!)
Ava and Dillon found heaven in my Mom's backyard - they have been cooped up inside all Arizona summer and were so happy to explore outside.

Ava climbed a tree for the first time...

Dillon chased the neighbors black cat... We all picked grapes, apples and pears and collected colorful leaves...

We had a picnic with Grandma Wolsey at Kiwanis Park.... I took the kids to Sundance where we ate lunch, found more colorful leaves and had Sundance suckers!

After a few days, Brian was able to join us and we headed to Spanish Fork to spend some time with his family. As usual, Brian's Mom Susan treated us to wonderful meals all weekend long.

Dillon was completely entertained all weekend long by Toby, he loves that dog!

Ava & Dillon loved jumping on the tramp with their cousin Maddy, even when it started snowing...
Grandma Susan helped Ava & Maddy carve pumpkins...

Maddy, Ava & I watched High School Musical and had alot of fun dancing to the music...

We celebrated Jessie's birthday a little early, Happy Birthday Jess - we love you!

We were lucky enough that our trip overlapped with Shelley's family's trip, so we spent a night with them, and had an impromptu family photo shoot...

The Original Bullard Family - Richard & Susan, Shelley, Brian & Jessie...

We loved our time in Utah - especially being with our Utah families!!! We hope to see you all again really soon!
